Ste Greenall shows

From recording “Pick of the Pops” on an old Grundig reel to reel recorder at the age of 8 to Community Radio Station Director, I’ve had quite a radio journey. Hospital radio ….a mobile disco …..a freelance sports reporter on the ILR network in the 80s and 90s…media spokesman for two football clubs… My sport work on radio included Test Cricket, Football at all levels including a full match commentary from Wembley, Rugby League and Union, Horse Trials – you name it, I’ve probably covered it.

I joined the embryonic Black Cat Radio in 2009, recording shows in Tony Gillham’s garage. I suppose having worked professionally as an accountant for most of my career, it was to be expected that I’d end up looking after the station’s finances, and I have done that since 2014. I became a director of Black Cat Radio Limited in November 2017 and I am part of the team that looks after sales advertising and sponsorship.

My first regular shows for the station went out on Monday evenings – Starting with the “Black Cat Rock Atlas”, when I ran out of UK locations to cover, I created “Opposites Attract”. I have presented “The Full English Breakfast” – our weekday breakfast show, since the station’s FM launch in April 2017. What began as just “music, news and waffle” has morphed into two hours which include interviews and chats with community groups in the immediate St. Neots plus occasionally, stories and subjects of national interest.

I was honoured and thrilled to receive two Community Radio Awards in 2021 and I have to say that ,whilst it might seem like hard work to some, it is the most rewarding hobby I have ever had.
